How to Renew Sri Lankan Passport
The documents applicants must bring should be arranged in the following order.
For Adult Applicants
- Completed application form 👉👉(Form K.35A).
- Receipt with the applicant's photograph.
- Original birth certificate bearing the purple official seal.

A photocopy of the valid National Identity Card (NIC) and the original NIC.
(Since the validity period of an NIC is 10 years, if your NIC is old, damaged, or the photograph is unclear and makes identification difficult, you must renew it before attending.) - If you wish to include your occupation in the passport, a letter confirming your employment/occupation.
- If you have previously held a passport, bring the original passport along with a photocopy of it.
- If a valid passport has been lost, bring a copy of the police complaint/report.
- When applying for a passport for a child, both parents must be present and must bring the completed No Objection Letter in the prescribed format.
- If either the mother or the father is living abroad, a No Objection Letter stating that they have no objection to issuing a passport for the child, along with their passport certified by the Sri Lankan embassy/high commission in that country, must be provided.
- Renewing the passport means issuing a new passport, NOT EXTENDING EXISTING PASSPORT.
